Doreen Turenne has lived in Niagara Falls since 2001, although born in St. Catharines, Ontario. She is the mother of three sons, who have given her five wonderful grandchildren.
Having started painting in her seventieth year, Doreen is fairly new to the artistic scene, and is self taught. Her work is mainly acrylics on canvas, although she enjoys exploring a variety of media. Doreen started with abstracts, then progressed to more realistic paintings, and lately portraits.
Having entered the Niagara Falls 4th Annual Art Competition in 2019, Doreen came away with the Mayor's Choice award. In February of 2020, she had her first art display and reception, showing 28 of her original paintings.
Doreen's art is inspired by flow, wherever she finds it. The dance between nature and whatever it touches is flow. Ribbons in the wind, a running horse's mane, leaves floating on the breeze, are all amazing to her, and need to be captured on canvas.
