QSAG Artists - Tena Schuyler

Tena immigrated from The Netherlands with her parents and two younger sisters at the tender age of four.

She grew up in the Haldimand area with her four sisters and one brother.

All through school she found that Art was her favourite subject and also her highest mark.

Life happened and not many opportunities for art although she did manage to fit in Life Drawing at Niagara College.

Retiring from the medical field as an RNA / Phlebotomist in 2002 gave her the opportunity to go back to her passion.

In 2010 she won Best over all artist at the Caledonia Fair. Top prize for her pencil sketch of Queen Elizabeth ll.

A founding member of Dawn Art Works, Niagara, Past Chair of Petersons Work Shop in Chippewa. Past member of Haldimand Art Works in Cayuga.

Tena trained under John Pijl, Bill Biddle, Joyce Fisher and more.

She paints mostly water colour but is enjoying soft pastels and acrylics as well as pencil sketching
